Terms & Conditions

MELODY COVE MUSIC SCHOOL – TERMS & CONDITIONS

By booking lessons, purchasing packages, enrolling in courses, or using any services from Melody Cove Music School (“Melody Cove”), you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. 

  1. LESSON BOOKINGS & SCHEDULING

• Lesson packages must be paid in full before the lesson cycle begins.
• Lessons are scheduled on a recurring basis at agreed time slots.
• Students will be informed of their schedule upon confirmation of enrollment or billing.

Lesson credits should be used within the purchased package cycle. Extensions may be granted at Melody Cove’s discretion for valid reasons such as medical emergencies.

2. CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULING

Student cancellations:
• Minimum 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling via the Student Portal.
• Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) may result in forfeiture of the lesson credit.
• Make-up lessons are not guaranteed.

Instructor cancellations:
• If a lesson is cancelled by the instructor, a replacement lesson will be arranged at no extra cost.
• No credits or fees will be forfeited.

Short-notice cancellations (1–3 hours):
• A $10 transport fee may apply if the instructor is already en route or at the studio.
• First occurrence may be waived as a courtesy; future occurrences may be charged.

No-show policy:
• First no-show: warning
• Second no-show: 50% lesson fee forfeiture
• Third and subsequent: 100% forfeiture
Repeated no-shows may result in discontinuation of lessons.

3. PAYMENT & BILLING

• Billing occurs on the 20th of each month for the upcoming cycle.
• Auto-payment via stored card is the standard method.
• Students authorise recurring charges upon enrollment.
• A valid payment method must remain active.

If no valid card is available:
• Manual PayNow billing applies
• A $5 administrative fee per billing cycle is charged

Failed payments may result in lesson suspension until payment is resolved.

To discontinue lessons, notice must be given before the 20th of the month prior to the next billing cycle. Once payment is processed, it is considered confirmed.

4. LESSON PAUSES & VALIDITY

• Lesson packages must commence within 1 month of purchase.
• Students may pause lessons for up to 1 month.
• Lesson slots are not guaranteed upon return from a pause.
• Extensions may be granted at discretion.

If lessons are not resumed within the agreed pause period, remaining credits may be forfeited.

5. LESSON LEVELS

Beginner lessons:
• Focus on basic playing skills and learning songs.

Intermediate lessons:
• Include theory, technique, and deeper musical analysis.

Progression between levels is determined by the instructor based on student development. Price adjustments will be communicated in advance.

6. STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

• Students are expected to arrive punctually.
• Students must bring their own instruments and materials.
• Respectful behaviour toward instructors and others is required.

Melody Cove reserves the right to discontinue lessons if there is a consistent mismatch between teaching approach and student needs or behaviour.

7. REFUNDS

Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.

General rules:
• Requests must be submitted via email or WhatsApp.
• Processing time: up to 14 business days for review.

If lessons have not started within 1 month:
• 90% refund provided
• 10% administrative fee retained

For ongoing packages:
• Refunds are only eligible before 50% of lessons are completed
• Lessons already completed are charged at full standard rate
• Up to 10% admin deduction may apply

Discounted packages:
• Lessons are recalculated at standard rates before refund calculation

Exceptional circumstances (e.g. medical emergencies) may be considered for extensions or refunds with supporting documentation.

8. OUTSIDE-OF-LESSON REQUESTS

Each student is entitled to one small request per month outside lesson time (e.g. recordings, minor notes).

Additional requests may incur fees starting from $15 depending on complexity.

Simple clarifications may be provided at the instructor’s discretion.

More complex support should be addressed during lesson time.

9. MEDIA CONSENT

Students may choose:

• Full consent – use of photos/videos/testimonials including name
• Partial consent – use without name
• Internal use only – not for public marketing
• No consent – no usage

Consent must be provided in writing and may be reviewed upon request in exceptional cases.

10. SAFETY & LIABILITY

• Students participate in lessons at their own risk.
• Melody Cove is not liable for injuries, loss, or damages during lessons except where required by law.
• Students are responsible for their own instruments and belongings.

11. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

• All lesson materials, recordings, arrangements, and resources remain the property of Melody Cove.
• Materials may not be copied, shared, or distributed without written permission.

12. POLICY UPDATES

• Melody Cove reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time.
• Significant changes will be communicated in advance via email or WhatsApp.
• Continued participation in lessons constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

Terms and Conditions for Guitar Repair Services

Welcome to Melody Cove Music School's Guitar Repair Services! By booking an appointment or using our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before proceeding.


Booking and Deposits

1. Deposit Requirement:

   - A mandatory deposit of $5 is required for booking your appointment via our Acuity Scheduler to secure your slot.
   - Deposits are non-refundable but will be deducted from the total cost of the repair.

2. Failure to Provide Deposit:

   - Appointments without the deposit confirmation within the stated timeframe will be automatically canceled.

3. Rescheduling and Cancellations:

   - Rescheduling is allowed up to 24 hours before the appointment time without penalty.
   - For cancellations, the deposit will not be refunded.


Costs and Additional Charges

1. Initial Diagnosis:

   - A basic diagnostic fee will be communicated during the booking process. This fee will be included in the final repair cost.

2. Additional Costs:

   - Extra costs may arise during the servicing process based on our diagnosis or in the course of repair.
   - Any additional charges exceeding the initial quote will be communicated and must be approved by the client before proceeding.

3. Disagreements on Costs:

   - In case of disagreement over additional charges, Melody Cove reserves the right to charge for work completed up to the point of dispute and return the guitar in its current condition.


Liability for Damages

1. Handling Care:

   - While we exercise utmost care in handling and servicing guitars, Melody Cove Music School is not liable for damages or breakdowns in guitars that are old, worn, or have pre-existing conditions.

2. Risk Notification:

   - Clients will be informed of any risks associated with their guitar prior to repair. If the client chooses not to proceed, Melody Cove reserves the right to decline the service.


Ownership and Responsibility

1. Client Responsibilities:

   - Clients must provide accurate and complete information about their guitars.
   - Melody Cove is not responsible for issues arising from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by the client.

2. Ownership of Parts:

   - All parts and materials used in the repair remain the property of Melody Cove until full payment is received.


Warranties and Guarantees

1. Repair Warranty:

   - A 30-day warranty is provided on all repair work performed. This covers any issues directly related to the service provided.

2. Exclusions:

   - The warranty does not cover damages resulting from misuse, neglect, or unauthorized repairs performed by the client or third parties.


Privacy Policy

1. Data Collection:

   - Personal information collected during the booking and service process will be used solely for the purpose of providing our services and communicating with clients.

2. Data Security:

   - Melody Cove Music School is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy. By using our services, you consent to the collection, use, and storage of your information as described.


Governing Law and Jurisdiction

1. Legal Compliance:

   - These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Singapore.

2. Dispute Resolution:

   - Any disputes arising from these terms and conditions will be resolved under the exclusive jurisdiction of Singaporean courts.


Modifications to Terms

1. Updates:

   - Melody Cove Music School reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.

2. Continued Use:

   - Continued use of our services after updates signifies your acceptance of the revised terms.
